Today 2K Games and Hanger 13 announced that their upcoming title, Mafia III, will be releasing on October 7, 2016. 2K currently has three editions of the game available for pre-order; Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s. Each of these editions comes with the ‘Family Kick-Back’ when pre-ordered which includes three exclusive vehicles and weapons upon launch.
Mafia III takes place in a re-imagined New Orleans, called New Bordeaux, a few years after the Vietnam war. You assume the role of Lincoln Clay, fresh back from Vietnam and looking to escape his criminal background. However, Clay’s surrogate family, the black mob, is wiped out by the Italian Mafia, and Clay swears revenge.
Haden Blackman, studio head and creative director at Hangar 13, had this to say on Mafia III:
Mafia III introduces a true open world, rich with its own criminal ecosystems to the franchise, while still upholding the strong narrative storytelling and immersive setting that the previous Mafia games are known for. The Standard Edition of Mafia III comes with the base game, the Deluxe Edition comes with the game plus a season pass, and the Collector’s Edition comes with everything included in the Deluxe Edition, plus the original game score on vinyl, a collectible art book, art prints, and more.
