Cross-promotion has officially gone a bit weird, with an announcement from Ubisoft about a Far Cry 3 tie-in for Minecraft. The free map and texture pack will be released through the official Far Cry website for the PC version of Minecraft on 26 October and adds a bunch of Far Cry 3 stuff to the game.
This will modify “all aspects of the original game” including, weapons, tools and environments. You’ll be able to hunt down over 50 Far Cry Easter Eggs, key locations from Far Cry 3 and Minecraft-ised versions of important characters like Vaas.
Just to confuse the issue, Ubisoft released a few Far Cry 3 shots with added Minecraft bits (like the one above), which is actually the precise opposite of what this release is.
The pack has been created by Minecraft enthusiast Michael Lambert along with artists Axel Janssen and Yohann Delcourt.
Far Cry 3 will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC at the end of November. Have a read of what John thought of it in this preview piece.
