NCSoft Advises Players On Account Security

Following an account security concern highlighted by players of GuildWars and Aion, players of NCsoft’s other MMO title, City of Heroes, have been reminded by the company that they should be extra careful when using their account details on the net.

The statement informs players that NCsoft is fully aware of the worry that game accounts are not totally secure, but assures gamers that is not the case. “We would like to take this opportunity to reassure all of you as to the reliability and solidity of the security measures that are in place to protect your personal data.” says the post. It continues, reminding players not to share their account details with anyone, or to use the same login details for anything else.

It goes on to say that claims of “malicious compromises” have been fully investigated and found to be untrue. However, interestingly, NCsoft has seen fit to add some extra security, just in case:

“None the less, we have added additional logging and security measures to further strengthen existing processes and preventative systems. If you are worried that your accounts may have become vulnerable, we recommend you change your passwords as soon as possible.”
