In Octopath Traveler 2, there are eight base jobs that the game’s main cast fulfills. It’s possible to get a second job for each character using licenses, but that second job isn’t just limited to the eight base jobs. There are an additional four secret jobs that the characters can access. This is our guide on how to unlock the Armsmaster secret job in Octopath Traveler 2.

Steps to unlock the Armsmaster secret job in Octopath Traveler 2
The Armsmaster is a powerful job that lets its user equip every type of physical weapon. A character with Armsmaster as their second job will be able to equip Axe, Bow, Dagger, Polearm, Staff, and Sword-type weapons.
To unlock the Armsmaster job, you need to find the Retired Blacksmith in Gravell. Located in the northeast of the Western continent, finding Gravell requires passing through a Danger Level 45 area to reach it. In Gravell, there will be a workshop with a Debt Collector blocking its entrance. Use either Hikari’s Challenge or Throné’s Ambush Path Action to defeat the Debt Collector. The Debt Collector has 15,441 HP and is weak to Polearm, Dagger, Staff, and Lightning.

With the Debt Collector defeated you are one step closer to unlocking the Armsmaster secret job in Octopath Traveler 2. Go inside the workshop and speak to the Retired Blacksmith. Doing so will begin the ‘In Search of the Divine Weapons’ side story. Completing this side story requires you to gather all six Rusty Weapons found across Solistia and giving them to the Retired Blacksmith. However, you only need to find one of these Rusty Weapons to acquire the Armsmaster license.
The easiest Rusty Weapon to get is the Rusty Sword. To get the Rusty Sword go to the weapon shop in Oresrush and purchase the Sturdy Pickaxe for 5,500 Leaves from the Retired Miner using Partitio’s Purchase Path Action. Now, take the Sturdy Pickaxe to Winterbloom, speak to the Enthused Gardener on the far right of Winterbloom, and give her the Sturdy Pickaxe. She’ll use it and then give the Rusted Sword to you. Finally, take the Rusted Sword back to the Retired Blacksmith and Octopath Traveler 2‘s Armsmaster license will be unlocked.
