Developer, Just Add Water, has been developing a HD remaster of the highly acclaimed PSOne classic, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee and have been working on it since last year.

News on the game has generally been pretty slow since, and now we know why, it isn’t exactly a HD remastered version, in fact it is more of a HD remake.

As it happens, Just Add Water are having to re-do almost everything in the game, and are simultaneously creating brand new assets as well. When quizzed on what exactly this means for the game and its development, Just Add Water said that they are using the PSone original as a “blueprint” for the HD remake.

This of course though means that the release window is not as close as the fans may wish, and the HD remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee will be due out summer 2013.
