New York state is adding to list of punishments for registered sex offenders. Over 3,500 online accounts have already been removed from Xbox Live, PSN, Origin, GameCenter, Battle.net etc

The press release mentions that the law requires sex offenders to provide their email addresses and screen names which can then “be made available to certain websites so they can purge potential predators from their online networks.” This is the first time such a law has been applied to gaming and Rich Wallis, Vice President, added his company is “supportive of Attorney General Schneiderman’s efforts to make the Internet, including online gaming environments like Xbox LIVE, safer for everyone.”
