Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2024

If you were wondering whether Nintendo was going through a nostalgia trip, then this brand-new Nintendo Direct just confirmed it. Nintendo unveiled the arrival of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door with enhanced graphics to the Nintendo Switch in 2024. Not only are we getting a Super Mario RPG and a Mario vs. Donkey Kong game, but now we travel down memory lane to the times of the GameCube and experience what is arguably the best Paper Mario game on the go.

While there is no official release date for this papery port, many fans of the Paper Mario franchise will find themselves pleased that they have finally received the port they were all hoping for. Perhaps that is what was needed for the franchise since the latest games have been struggling to keep the magic that the first Paper Mario and its sequel, The Thousand-Year Door managed to cast into the hearts of gamers around the world.

This year already feels like a wonder-ful year for Mario fans. Nintendo is returning to the 2D game formula with Super Mario Wonder and revisiting Super Mario RPG. The latter was arguably a big inspiration for what the Paper Mario franchise later became. Now we all have something to look after for the incoming year. We all hope that 2024 takes 2023 as an example since this has been a historic year for games, and all of us fans.

Let’s wait for any further news on this upcoming port. In the meantime, you can play the original Paper Mario on Nintendo Switch Online. You can also play the latest entry in the franchise, Paper Mario: The Origami King. Nintendo still needs to bring a couple of entries so that every Paper Mario game can be fully playable on the Switch. Hopefully, game preservation will become a bigger priority in the future. However, if you ask me, I think the Thousand-Year Door will suffice for now.
