Pine: Humanity’s battle to climb the food chain is available now

We’re not the smartest species on this block.
Pine Twirlbound available PC now

Life as a human would have been very different if we weren’t at the top of the food chain. Squishy exterior, no natural weapons on our bodies. If you take away our tools and creations, we would be useless at surviving. Pine, a new open-world action adventure game, lets you explore what a world that doesn’t belong to humanity might be like, and it’s available now.

Everything you do in Pine influences the constantly evolving world. Even doing nothing does something. Other species will fight each other over food and territory and you’ll never even know about it. It’s a living, breathing world, and your species is not the only one trying to survive. The others will do everything they can to ensure they don’t go extinct.

Evolution wasn’t as kind to humanity this time around

Pine is set in the beautiful world of Albamare. It’s home to a whole range of species living across six different biomes. You play as Hue the human, a smart young adult looking for a place for his tribe to settle. In your quest to find a home you’ll encounter the various other species that inhabit Albamare, and you’ll need to decide how you want to engage with them. Or they might decide for you because not everyone will necessarily want to help you. They’ve got to look out for number one.

Pine Fight Or Flight

Helping or hindering the other species is a core part of Pine and your quest to rise from the bottom of the food chain. You’ll be able to talk, trade, quest, and fight with the other inhabitants of Albamare. You can befriend a species and fight alongside them, forming a mutually beneficial relationship. You could also steal another species’s food and chase them off their land, forcing them to relocate elsewhere. How you engage with one will affect your relationship with another. All these engagements will have a chain reaction across the world of Pine.

As you explore the island, you’ll uncover mysteries about its past and how the current evolutionary course came to be. You’ll also discover a range of helpful contraptions that will make your survival a little bit easier. Things like a wrist-mounted flamethrower and a glider. It’s a big, dangerous world out there, and as a puny little human, you need all the help you can get.

Pine is available now on Steam, Kartridge, and GOG, with a Switch release coming in a few weeks.
