Get your wallet ready

Since 2020, Razer has begun the tradition of holding annual events known as RazerCon to showcase its latest products along with special announcements. Razer held its keynote for RazerCon 2022 on Saturday, and with it came announcements for a number of new products for both gamers and content creators alike.

Razer showcased plenty, including new headsets, a chair made in collaboration with Lamborghini, and a flashy new handheld gaming device. The only items left out – aside from color variations of already available products – are any new gaming mice or keyboards. However, those are expected to come in the near future. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it, but for now, let’s look at what Razer unveiled.

Razer Edge

The new Razer Edge 5G was arguably one of the biggest announcements of RazerCon 2022. A mobile gaming device that allows for internet connection wherever you may be, the Razer Edge 5G comes in partnership with Verizon to help deliver that experience.

The device runs on Android 12 and features a Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 platform with a 3.0Ghz octa-core Kryo CPU and Adreno GPU built specifically for the Razer Edge. It will also have a 6.8” Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 2400x1080p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It includes 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB of general storage.

Right out of the box, the Razer Edge will support a number of AAA games. It will come pre-installed with the Epic Games Store launcher, the Xbox Cloud Gaming app, and Nvidia GeForce Now. For those interested in remote play, it will support Steam, Xbox, Parsec, and more.

The Razer Edge will also come with the new Razer Kishi V2 Pro mobile controller that features haptic feedback and a 3.5mm audio port.

In addition to the 5G version, a Wi-Fi version of the Razer Edge will also be available. Pricing and availability for the Razer Edge 5G will come at a later date from Verizon itself. The Razer Edge Wi-Fi will be available January 2023 at $399.99 USD at Razer.com and RazerStore locations.

Razer Blue Screen

Razer unveiled its ‘Blue Screen’ product for content creators during the show. Similar to other portable chroma screens, Razer decided to use a blue screen as opposed to green to better mimic what’s used in professional moviemaking. According to Razer, the blue screen allows for “the cleanest keying.” The screen features an adjustable height up to 94 inches, and is built for portability and quick deployment.

The Razer Blue Screen is available now for $149.99 USD.

New headsets galore

A number of new headset announcements were made during RazerCon 2022. On the more eccentric side comes the Kraken Kitty V2 Pro. It’s the same Razer Chroma RGB headset that many enjoyed, but it now includes additional interchangeable ears: cat, bear, and bunny. The Kraken Kitty V2 Pro features Razer TriForce Titanium 50mm drivers with 7.1 digital surround sound. Retailing for $199.99 USD, it will be available in both pink and black.

Aside from the Kraken Kitty V2 Pro, Razer announced new headsets in its Kaira lineup. Three to be precise: the Kaira X, Kaira HyperSpeed, and Kaira Pro HyperSpeed. The Kaira X is a wired headset for the PlayStation 5, but functions on the PC. It will retail for $59.99 USD. The Kaira HyperSpeed and Kaira Pro HyperSpeed are both wireless headsets, and will retail for $129.99 USD and $199.99 USD respectively. The difference between the two, according to Razer, is that the Kaira Pro HyperSpeed features Razer HyperSense sound haptics. Both will boast a 2.4Ghz connection and up to 30 hours of battery life.

For those that don’t want something sitting on their head, Razer is also launching the Hammerhead HyperSpeed earbuds. While they are available with either Xbox or PlayStation branding like the aforementioned new Kaira lineup, the Hammerhead HyperSpeed earbuds can be used with any platform with a USB-C port or Bluetooth. The earbuds feature active noise cancellation, up to 30 hours of battery life, and come with a wireless charging case. The earbuds launch in November and start at $149.99.

More Quartz options

The company revealed more additions coming to the Razer Quartz lineup. It will now feature the Razer Barracuda wireless headset, the Huntsman V2 TKL keyboard, the BlackShark V2 X headset, The Orochi V2 mouse, and the Strider mouse pad in large.

In addition to Quartz lineup additions, the Mercury and White lineup also got more peripheral options.

Enki Pro Lamborghini

For you chair aficionados out there, Razer has announced its latest collaboration with Lamborghini in the form of the Enki Pro Lamborghini gaming chair. The black and orange chair mimics what you’d find in Lamborghini sports cars with the same seat upholstery and hexagonal stitching. It also features a cushioned backrest, magnetic head cushion, and a recline dial.

The chair launches in December, starting at a whopping $1,299 USD.

Razer Axon

The last thing announced during the RazerCon 2022 keynote was a new piece of software called Razer Axon. Designed to increase environmental immersion, Axon is a wallpaper engine that supports both static and dynamic wallpapers which interact with Razer Chroma RGB for reactionary color systems for your setup.

Axon supports included or custom wallpapers that you can import. Users will also be able to create a “playlist of wallpapers” within the program. Additionally, the software will support a number of games at launch with more to come in future updates. The first 10,000 people to download the software will receive it for free. After that, it will cost users Razer Silver, which is earned by buying various Razer products from the company’s online store.
