Jagex has settled on 12 December as the release date for its intriguing hybrid of class-based, multiplayer shooter and Minecraft-esque digging shenanigans, Ace of Spades. Like so many other digital titles, it’ll be sold through Steam for the budget price of £7.00 GBP.

The game isn’t just name-checking Minecraft for its looks; the point of the block-based battlefield is that anything can be deconstructed and created in the midst of the fight. Need to dig a trench or a tunnel? How about constructing an impromptu bunker? No problem (except being shot at while you do it).

Here’s one of the game’s classes, detailed in trailer form. The Rocketeer is a versatile fellow with a jet-pack and engineering skills.
