In the first 48 hours the eagerly anticipated sequel became the fastest-selling strategy game of all time shifting 1.5 million copies.
“We launched StarCraft II in 11 different languages and on 5 different continents because we wanted to make sure as many players as possible were able to log on and play on day one,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment.
He added, “We’re pleased that so many people around the world have already picked up a copy of the game, and we look forward to welcoming even more players to Battle.net in the weeks and months ahead.”
It’s not surprising especially as StarCraft II shot straight in at number one in the UK All Formats chart this week, backing up the huge sales that online retailer Amazon showcased worldwide.
While I could sit and try to explain why you should experience StarCraft II, I’m going to leave it to our community site StarCraft.Incgamers.com to give you the lowdown on why you should place Blizzard’s masterpiece.
