Starfield Grunt Work quest: How to kill the Terrormorph

Occisio Machina... AKA the Terrormorph

During the Grunt work quest, Hadrian will mention that a deadly Terrormorph has run rampant at the production center and ask for your help to kill it. She’ll also ask that you retrieve a sample of its issue so she can figure out why it’s here. While Terrormorphs are formidable foes in Starfield, there are several strategies you can employ to make the fight easier. Here’s how to kill the Terrormorph during the Starfield Grunt Work quest.

When completing the Vanguard Grunt Work quest on Tau Ceti II, you’ll come across your first Terrormorph. Luckily, this first fight against them will be aided by Turrets. However, you must first activate these turrets before they will assist you.

To do so, head to the Security building in the courtyard by exiting the south-facing door and then head up the stairs. Then, head across the platforms and down to the security building. Once inside, locate the Security System terminal by the stairs.

How to restore power to the “Kills Lanes” in Starfield

Power Breaker Starfield

It is highly recommended that you follow Hadrian’s advice and turn on the lasers in what she calls the Kill Lanes. Since the Terrormorph is a level 10 monster, it could be a tough fight if you aren’t a high enough level or adequately equipped. To activate the turrets, you must turn on all power breakers by going to the locations of each quest marker. Once you have turned on all power breakers, you can lead the Terrormorph into the lights, and it will be attacked.

Leading the Terrormorph to the Kill Lanes during the Starfield Grunt Work quest will damage it but not instantly kill it, meaning you will still need to attack it. However, there are a few strategies you should employ to help kill the Terrormorph. First, I recommend using your boost pack and the planet’s gravity to maneuver around the Terrormorph and avoid its attacks. Once you have avoided one of the Terrormorph’s attacks, you will want to go on the offensive and attack it in the back with a radiation weapon. Terrormorphs are weak to radiation damage and have weak spots on their backs.

Note: A second bug will happen after you take the Terrormorph tissue sample to Hadrian. If this happens to you, check out this guide on how to fix the bug.
