Today was the first time we’ve had some concrete information about System Shock 3 direct from Otherside.
In an update sent over this afternoon they have confirmed a few things we were still unsure about. As we thought might be the case, the original System Shock team will be making this sequel. Paul Neurath who oversaw the original series’ development, Nate Wells, a senior artist on System Shock 2, and character artist Robb Waters will all be involved.
Otherside has also secured the exclusive IP rights for all future versions of the franchise through a partnership with Night Dive Studios who are currently remaking the original and own the System Shock trademark.
System Shock 3 could also be quite a way off from release as we now know that the game is still in “early concept stages of development”.
If there was a one franchise you’d want a developer to reboot and get right, System Shock has to be right up there, so let’s hope they take their time with this one.
If you missed out post earlier today then you can check out the updated teaser site which include a taunting audio sample as voice actress Terri Brosius (System Shock 1 & 2, Dishonored) reprises her role as the voice of SHODAN.
