Varsham is the new big bad for Season 1 of Diablo 4. Together with your new ally, Cormond; you must take down this evil foe and return Santurary to whatever they call peace. The questline will lead you through cellars and dungeons looking for the Malignant, collecting their hearts and strengthening you along the way. As the seasonal content comes to an end, you will be faced with one of the last missions. The Cold Hard Truth is a tricky one, so take a look at this walkthrough.
The Cold Hard Truth walkthrough
Once you have completed the Ruins of the Faith quest in Diablo 4, you will immediately be able to take on the Cold Hard Truth quest line. In this walkthrough, you will be expected to defeat waves of Velkhova malignant foes. This will give Cormond the time to summon Varsham so you can put an end to his tyrannical rule once and for all. Bear in mind, due to a bug; you must complete this on world tier one or two in order to get Varsham’s heart.

Step by Step walkthrough
- Meet Cormond at his wagon just outside of Kyovashad. He will direct you to make your way to the undercroft of the church to begin the summoning ritual in Diablo 4.
- You must not head to each of the highlighted areas to clear out the Malignant from Volkhova. This will include Malignant Corruption and a lot of enemies.
- Once you have cleared the three areas, Cormond will head to the church for the next stage of the Cold Hard Truth walkthrough.
- Clear out more Malignant foes from the Undercroft until you reach the ritual area. Then, speak with Cormond to continue with the Walkthrough.
- Cormond will instruct you to clear out all the Malignant and light the incense burners. Hack and slash your way through the tumors and locate the three Braziers. Interact with these to continue with the Cold Hard Truth walkthrough in Diablo 4.
- After speaking with Cormond, he will then begin the ritual. Defend him from all the enemies that will spawn in the area.
- Varshan the Consumed will appear once the waves of enemies have been defeated. Be aware of his huge area of effect moves, and be sure to dash away. Cormond will help you from a distance which is nice, but it will be up to you to defeat Varshan. Ensure you have enough health potions for a big fight. Otherwise, you’re going to have a bad time in the Cold Hard Truth quest.
- Once you have defeated Varshan, you must collect his heart to complete the Cold Hard Truth walkthrough. This will also award you the Invoker of Varsham, which is needed for the highly prized Foul Invoker of Varsham.
