Diablo 4 Season of Blood to introduce vampires and vampiric powers

Revealed at Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live, Blizzard announced the second season of Diablo 4 called Season of Blood, which will introduce vampiric powers. Although we’re still in the midst of Season of the Malignant, we now know how October will look like for Diablo fans. In a similar fashion to the Season of the Malignant trailer, we see an artistic cinematic with a voiceover by the actress Gemma Chan.

You may know her from movies like Crazy Rich Asians and Eternals. Gemma Chan voices the new character Erys, who leads the effort against a deadly new vampire threat across Sanctuary. Vampires arriving during October is perfect for the Halloween season, as you’ll apparently unlock vampiric powers. Does this mean that a vampire may bite your character for you to unlock these new abilities? We’ll have to wait and see.

Season of Blood will include five new and returning endgame bosses, and plenty of exciting updates. Things like Renown rewards, Gem and stash storage, and even resistance and status effects will receive updates. Explained in a new blog post, rewards will now carry over when completed on any prior characters. This includes potion charges, skill points, Obol cap upgrades, and even Paragon points. Now you can jump into the upcoming Diablo 4 Season without having to worry about getting back those Renown rewards.

Also, Blizzard promises more efficient inventory management for Gems, which was a long-awaited request from Diablo 4 fans. Gems no longer take up your inventory space, and you can search and filter items in your stash. Not only that, but they’ll be bringing along changes to status effects like Vulnerable, Overpower, Critical Strike Damage and Elemental Resistances. Season of Blood releases for Diablo 4 on October 17.
