There's no progress without pain...

NBA 2K24 has had a lot of changes made to essential aspects of the game, like the badge system and player attributes. One change this year is the introduction of the Timing Stability stat, which changes how you approach building your character compared to previous entries in the NBA 2K franchise. Here is what Timing Stability means in NBA 2K24 so you know precisely how it changes the game and why you should care!

Timing Stability is a stat that helps your player maintain a consistent jump shot speed throughout the game, even when tired or facing elite defensive pressure. For instance, a player with a higher grade of Timing Stability will have the effects of fatigue and defense dampened, resulting in a more consistent jump shot speed at all times.

I found that having at least a B+ Timing Stability rating is vital to make this stat effective. This grade level will keep your shot speed unchanged throughout games, like making catch-and-shoots at the 3-point line, attacking at mid-range, and performing fast breakthroughs.

Here’s how to check your Timing Stability stat in NBA 2K24:

  1. Start the MyCareer game mode
  2. Open the MyCareer menu
  3. Go to the MyPlayer tab
  4. Select the Animations option
  5. Choose the Jump Shot animation
  6. Look for Timing Stability on the bottom right

Mike Wang, Gameplay Director for NBA 2K24, sent a Tweet explaining what Timing Stability is: “Variable shot timing has been toned down for 2K24, also we changed the Shot Timing Impact shooting attribute to Shot Timing Stability. Higher Stability grades will further dampen the effects of fatigue/defense on your shot speed.”

As mentioned in Wang’s tweet, the Timing Stability stat completely replaces the Timing Impact attribute. However, the new Timing Stability stat does not affect the Green Window in your Shot Meter, which still behaves the same. You must still shut off the Shot Meter to increase the Green Window’s size by an additional 20%.
