What is Wingman in CS2?

Sometimes, it takes two.

Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) is the hotly anticipated sequel to one of the biggest franchises in the competitive gaming scene. In CS2, there are plenty of game modes for you to try depending on your personal taste and enjoyment. Wingman is such a game mode, but you’ll find that it isn’t unlocked immediately. What is this locked game mode in CS2, and how can you unlock it?

The Wingman game mode in CS2

In CS2, Wingman is a blend of game modes. As the name suggests, you’ll be partnered with one other player and will be competing against another two players. You can think of it as Gunfight from Modern Warfare (one of my favorite game modes, by the way), except you’ll be defusing a bomb. Hosted in small maps, due to the small player count, the teams will be fighting over one bomb defusal site. Each round lasts for 90 seconds, providing high-intensity engagements.

To win the match, you need to win a best of 16, meaning ties are possible. As soon as you hit 9 wins, you will automatically win, as it’ll be impossible for the other team to beat you within the 16 games. Due to fighting either 9 or 16 rounds, the game times vary greatly. You can expect them to be on the shorter side, generally, depending on how skilled you are, and how skilled your opponents are.

The game mode is locked upon starting the game, but don’t worry. If you want to practice ahead of time, you can head over to the practice mode, where you can select Wingman. You will be playing with bots, but you’ll be introduced into how the game is played, to not look too wet behind the ears when you play against human opponents. I would advise you play at least one practice map to intimately know what you’re up against.

How to unlock Wingman in CS2

To unlock Wingman, you’ll need to play other matches. There is a progress bar when you hover over the game mode. Each match is weighted differently and will contribute differently to the progress bar. It is estimated that you will need to play around 5 to 7 games to unlock it and play it. This is most likely so new players can gain some experience of the game’s functions and how online play works before they access all the features of the game.

I hope you enjoyed our guide on unlocking and playing Wingman in CS2. I wish you luck in all of your future endeavors, soldier. For more CS2 news and guides, visit PC Invasion.
