Will Fortnite Zero Build leave during the OG season?

Nostalgia is one helluva drug.

Leaks and rumors galore have ransacked the Fortnite community with whispers of whether or not the original Chapter 1 map will return, much to the nostalgia of OG players. Now we are yet again pulled into another debate before the new season has even been released, but this time the question is whether or not the newer Zero Build mode will take a hiatus from Fortnite for the new (old) season.

Confusing right? I know, but here’s the gist of it. Multiple discussions were sparked online believing that Epic Games will remove Zero Build mode from Fortnite for the entirety of Chapter 4 Season 5 because they are bringing back the old Chapter 1 map from before Fortnite became a cultural phenomenon.

This is because Zero Build is a relatively newer mode, which people assume wouldn’t fit well with the original Chapter 1 map, which was difficult to move around in without building. There weren’t as many buildings, cars, or points of interest on the map back then, and various landmarks were difficult to reach without using ramps or floors. So, in favor of not giving players an irritating gameplay experience, Fortnite may remove Zero Build altogether from its lineup so players will always have the option to build structures when they get stuck in the original map. But is that really something Epic Games might actually do?

Is Fortnite Zero Build in Season 4 Chapter 5?

A reputable Fortnite leaker called ShiinaBR on Twitter has confirmed that Zero Build Mode will stay in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 5. But it’s important to note that there is nothing concrete about this yet, as there is no official announcement from Epic. Whatever the internet says, it’s unlikely that Epic Games will remove their second most popular game mode for an entire season.

There’s a large portion of the Fortnite community that came back to Fortnite with the introduction of Zero Build, and it’s also been a major hit with the newer player base. To throw all that out into the wind for a bit of nostalgia sounds like killing an ant with a flamethrower. The assumption is that Zero Build won’t work in the OG map, but who’s to say Epic will leave the map as it is? ShiinaBr has already mentioned Epic will add zip lines to the OG map for ease of traversal, and this points to Epic making even more quality-of-life improvements to improve the experience for such a large event. Right now, it could be anyone’s guess, we’ll just have to wait and see.
