World of Warcraft subs down 100K

During last night’s Activision Blizzard’s financial call, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime revealed that a further 100,000 players have left World of Warcraft in the past three months.
This latest figure takes the currrent subscriber level  level to 10.1 million players and the loss is less than some may have expected. It was thought that the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic late last year may have inpacted the WoW subscriber numbers more than it has.
It has to be noted though that blizzard have been quite clever at the end of last year offering a free copy of Diablo 3 to players who took out a twelve month subscription plan. WoW players will have snapped up the offer in the hope that they would be playing Diablo 3 some time in Q1 this year.
Last night Blizzard revealed that Diablo 3 has been pushed back until Q2 and some WoW players who took out an annual pass have become upset that Blizzard has delayed the game further.
