We know some of you have been waiting for this, so now we can confirm that Electronic Arts has been nominated for Consumerist’s Worst Company in America for 2014.
Consumerist notes further that EA returns for nomination along with Paypal, Ticketmaster, and the Bank of America, along with new entrants like Seaworld and Koch Industries (unrelated to Koch Media, owners of game developer Deep Silver).
As they also covered late last year, the case was already being made for this nomination, based on EA’s actions surrounding SimCity and Battlefield 4. Since then, EA has faced criticisms anew over Dungeon Keeper Mobile, and to a lesser extent, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, and Titanfall.
It must be said that EA deserves its due for trying to ameliorate things with the fans. They have followed through on their pledges to make SimCity offline play available, fix problems with Battlefield 4, and are also working on the server issues that plagued Titanfall’s launch. These games also continue to sell well in spite of the poor reputation their parent company continues to have.
Do you guys think EA deserves this dubious honor three times in a row? Or is this more symptomatic of their poor reputation than their actual actions? Sound off in the comments below.
