Overwatch now has more than 25 million players

It wasn’t that long ago that Blizzard hit 20 million Overwatch players, it was only back in October 2016.

Today Blizzard announced via Twitter that the game has now surpassed 25 million players which is an impressive number for a team-based shooter, five million in three months. The Blizzard factor plays a huge part in the game’s success, attracting players from the large numbers of players they already have access to via their other games and the fact that their games are incredibly polished at launch.

If you actually look at the Overwatch, it’s not exactly original, but the short games give players a fast and furious burst of action they can quickly jump into. The formula is working perfectly for Blizzard.

The future looks bright for the game, the recent Year of the Rooster event added a CTF mode which plays well considering it’s experimental. It was a nice surprise to find another game mode added, even if it is only for a short period of time,.Hopefully Blizzard will iterate on it further and we’ll see more of CTF in the future.

It’s unlikely that this 25 million number includes regular active player active players, many accounts may have been created during the trial weekend, but it’s still impressive nevertheless.
