Rockstar now banning Grand Theft Auto Online Modders

Rockstar Games has gone HAM on its Terms and Conditions, banning everyone who has modded or hacked into their version of Grand Theft Auto Online from reentering the game. This ban does not distinguish on people who hacked into the game to cheat on it or not, everyone who tried anything is banned. The ban is also effective whether the people involved make new accounts or switch consoles. Speculation among those banned is that Rockstar is tracking IP or MAC addresses to find said hackers.

Still, those banned can play Grand Theft Auto 5’s single player, so they still have that. It would seem all of this is to get Online’s financial system in order to bring back their microtransactions. We’ll see if the bans have the desired effect.
