Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order financial performance high EA quarterly report earnings

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order performed far past EA’s financial expectations

A Jedi will lead them.

EA has big plans for the new year — and it’s got a Star Wars character leading the charge. The company recently held its quarterly conference call, where it announced that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has performed well beyond expectations.

How did the new Star Wars game fare?

According to chief executive officer Andrew Wilson, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order “significantly beat expectations” following its release last November. EA originally thought it would sell six-to-eight million copies, but it ended up doing significantly better than that. It expects the single player adventure to sell 10 million copies by the end of its current fiscal year in March.

That’s just the beginning of a new year for the company, as it has big plans for what’s in store. Players can expect four new sports games between April 2020 and March 2021, including new entries of Madden NFL and FIFA. As for the others, they aren’t confirmed yet, but one will be an all-new sports game.

On top of that, four other titles will release through EA’s classic IPs. It didn’t state specifically which games it would revisit. However, Battlefield is off the table until next year, and there’s no word on a new Star Wars game. So, that means another franchise could possibly get a revisit.

Rounding out EA’s plans for the new year, the company will release four smaller indie titles from various developers. They aren’t revealed yet, but more details are expected in the months ahead.

It looks like EA has some big hopes for the new year, but the real question is what surprises it has in store. There’s a good chance it will bring back its EA Play event again, which will likely take place before E3 2020 takes place. It’s there we’ll likely see what the future holds.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available now.
