Roller Champions delayed

Roller Champions rolls out new gameplay trailer and closed alpha

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.

Originally touted as Ubisoft’s Rocket League competitor, Roller Champions is a blend of high-speed roller derby, basketball, and WWE. Not much has been revealed about the game since it was originally announced at E3 2019, but now Roller Champions is back in the spotlight with a new gameplay trailer and an upcoming alpha test.

The Roller Champions closed alpha will take place from 12 p.m. EST on March 11 to 4 p.m. EST on March 23. Unfortunately, not everyone who signs up will get a spot in the alpha. But those who do will have the chance to try out a bunch of features that have never been seen in the game before.

In the closed alpha, players will get to experience the character creation system for the first time. They’ll be able to try out new team maneuvers and tackling moves, which you can see in action in the Roller Champions gameplay trailer below.

Plus, the closed alpha players will be the first people from the public to skate around the Chichen Itza arena. I believe that’s the Mexico arena being shown off in the gameplay trailer. We also get a very brief glimpse at some other arenas at the end of the trailer. There’s the beach one we’ve seen before. Plus, there’s one that looks like it might be Chinese, based on the dragons and color scheme.

How to play the Roller Champions closed alpha

If you want a chance to play in the closed alpha, you need to sign up for a spot on the game’s website. Successful applicants will be sent an email containing a link to download the game. It needs to be downloaded through the Uplay PC launcher. On that note, you need to create a Ubisoft account to be able to play.

If you are successful with your application, you will also be able to invite up to two friends from your Uplay PC friends list to play with you. That’s very convenient because Roller Champions teams are made up of three players.
