The Falconeer is not your typical fighter pilot game. In this mystical ocean-covered world, you pilot a giant bird and fight all manner of creatures and vessels. The title also has RPG elements, so you’ll level skills and learn abilities as you progress through the game’s story. The story trailer introduces us to the Seachantress. Her voice will guide you throughout your journey, which apparently ends up at her doorstep. She seems to know a lot about the history of the world and will likely serve as a fountain of knowledge throughout the game.
The trailer showcases gameplay footage taken from the first chapter of the game. There, the player needs to battle pirates sailing fast ships and piloting agile airships. It gives us a good look at the third-person aerial combat and the powerful ranged weapons you can wield as a Falconeer.
Factions collide
The Falconeer is set in a world known as the Ursee. It’s mostly covered in water, with a few settlements scattered here and there. These settlements all belong to one of three factions. Each one is chasing after the mysterious secrets hidden in the Ursee’s depths, and they’ll do anything to ensure they get it first. So, it’s a bit of a warzone out there.
The first settlement we see in The Falconeer story trailer is Saladmount. Its sole purpose is to harvest wood from the giant fungal seatrees. We then move on to the Shard. This is home to one of the most important noble houses in the game, House Borgia. As its name implies, this location consists of sharp, imposing rock features. Third, we get a look at the Imperial Harbor and Imperial Peak – home to the Royal seat and the largest city on the Ursee.
The Falconeer plans to release sometime in 2020. It already has a Steam page, so you can add it to your wishlist if you’d like to keep an eye on it.
