Magic Legends Missions

What to expect from the Magic: Legends open beta

Get your cards ready.

The open beta for Magic: Legends launches on March 23. So, developer Cryptic Studios and publisher Perfect World Entertainment have released a new video that runs through everything you’ll be able to see and do when it launches next week.

The beta will be playable through Arc Games and the Epic Games Store. If you’d like to take part in the Magic: Legends open beta, but you haven’t signed up yet, then you better head over to the game’s official website and put your name down.

If you’d like a more in-depth look at Magic: Legends before you try your hand at it, you can check out our preview of the action RPG. In the preview, I spent an hour playing two of the classes with two vastly different decks. I got a solid taste of the two facets of gameplay: deckbuilding and combat.

Dealing for the Open Beta

As you can see from the Magic: Legends open beta trailer below, the combat looks engaging. The spells are works of art, and they feel impactful on the enemies and world around you. Additionally, the gameplay in the trailer also shows that different classes and spells can combine for vastly different playstyles.

Cryptic and Perfect World is using the open beta to gather feedback from players to fine-tune and improve the game. The developer has already proven it is more than willing to make changes based on community feedback.

The open beta will feature over 170 spells, over 160 unique pieces of equipment, five Classes, and five regions across the Multiverse. As I mentioned in the preview, there will be no more wipes once the open beta begins. So, the cards you collected and the gear you unlock during beta will be with you until the end of time.

I haven’t even mentioned one of the best aspects of Magic: Legends yet. It’s free to play. It’ll cost you nothing but time, which will hopefully be thoroughly enjoyable.
