Modern Warfare 2 Warzone 2 tradable cosmetics marketplace leak

Call of Duty leak suggests Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will have tradable cosmetics

Changing the landscape of cosmetics.

Back in February, Activision confirmed the development of both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Just over a month later, the logo was revealed for the former upcoming title. This left fans excited to return to the fan-favorite Modern Warfare series. Apart from that, we have not been given any more information to work with. Thanks to leaks however, some more details have emerged about what we could expect when the game launches. The most recent leak suggests that Modern Warfare 2 may get cosmetics that can be traded through a marketplace.

Community-known Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope claims that Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 could allow players to trade cosmetics. These cosmetics will supposedly be from Modern Warfare 2‘s rumored third ‘DMZ’ game mode, which will reportedly feature a marketplace where items can be purchased and traded. The cosmetics that could be traded include skins and blueprints, which may be used across both multiplayer and Warzone 2.

An entirely new way to get your hands on Call of Duty cosmetics

If tradable cosmetics do make their debut in Modern Warfare 2, this will be the first time this feature has been in Call of Duty. Usually, you have to unlock cosmetics through the battle pass or purchase them through the in-game store. However, cosmetics that can be traded are present in other first-person shooters, such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

It’s important to note that the tradable cosmetics leak should be taken with a pinch of salt. Without confirmation from Activision, it’s unknown what developer Infinity Ward could have up its sleeve. Also, we do not know how this system will work and if it will only be available through the ‘DMZ’ mode, for example.

With that being said, a marketplace where items can be traded would be an interesting addition to Modern Warfare 2. The games already have a healthy lineup of cosmetics, so trading some around for those you want could be a welcome addition.
