Ubisoft Forward showcase returns September, here’s what we know

Back in action.

Every year is predictable when it comes to major game release timelines. We get some new hits in the spring, and occasional drops in the summer. The prime focus of the gaming industry is always on hyping new projects up in the fall and then releasing before the holiday season sales rush. As you’d imagine, that’s the exact cadence Ubisoft’s on in 2022, and an upcoming Forward games showcase event is now scheduled for September.

You can tune in on September 10 at 3PM ET to see what the publisher has in store for us in the near future. That’s an awfully long wait though, so we’ve compiled what we know about existing projects to give you an idea of what’s to come. We’ll cover the anticipated showcases, along with some other things that have been on the backburner, but could appear at the Ubisoft Forward September 2022 event.

The main course

Ubisoft has a few projects for PC that clearly state “coming soon” on its website. These games have all been revealed if you’d care to check our past coverage. The list includes Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, XDefiant, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Frontline.

Adding to that, we know that Skull and Bones will at last be revealed on July 7. This pseudo-spinoff of the wildly popular Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag will feature plenty of high seas action with pirates and the like. It’s been in some state of development for nearly eight years, so it’s sure to draw attention.

What else ya got?

Aside from these projects that are expected to appear, additional likely suspects include new content and updates for games like Rainbow Six Siege, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and maybe Far Cry 6. We’ll just have to wait and see, but these plus other titles remain popular and may warrant further updates.

With the obvious stuff out of the way, we’ll wrap up with a few speculative items. Many would like to see Beyond Good and Evil 2 finally get a release date, and there’s also an unannounced Star Wars project brewing somewhere in the Ubisoft studios. It’s probably too soon to see the latter, but Beyond Good and Evil 2 is due for a reappearance after years since the initial reveal.

Ubisoft may have a few surprises in store for us as well. If this September 2022 event is anything like prior Forward games showcases, Ubisoft may even offer up some freebies for virtually attending.
