Destiny 2 Cold Comfort God Roll and how to get it

How do I get a Cold Comfort God Roll in Destiny 2?

Cold Comfort is a new Stasis Rocket Launcher in Destiny 2. It has an Aggressive Frame which generally makes for the best Rocket Launchers in the game — which I believe this Cold Comfort God Roll is the new DPS meta. Here is what the Cold Comfort God Roll is and how to get it in Destiny 2.

Note: This Cold Comfort God Roll pairs well with the best Void Warlock build in Season of the Deep.

How to get Cold Comfort God Roll in Destiny 2

Cold Comfort is only acquired through specific Ghosts of the Deep encounters. Ghosts of the Deep is the Season of the Deep Dungeon in Destiny 2, and as my Ghosts of the Deep loot table guide at Attack of the Fanboy says, you can acquire Cold Comfort from any of the three encounters.

None of the Ghosts of the Deep weapons, including Cold Comfort, are craftable, so the only way to get the Cold Comfort God Roll is to grind and pray to the RNG gods that you get it. I recommend repeating encounter 1 or 2 as they can be completed relatively quickly and have less loot to drop, which increases your chance at a Cold Comfort God Roll.

Destiny 2 Cold Comfort God Roll for PvE

The reason you need to get this Cold Comfort is because the God Roll allows you to continuously fire four rockets at once. This can’t be accomplished with any other Rocket Launcher and allows you to deal a massive amount of damage in a short amount of time.

  • Barrel: Quick Launch
  • Magazine: Impact Casing
  • Perk 1: Envious Assassin
  • Perk 2: Bait and Switch
  • Origin Trait: Restoration Ritual

For starters, Restoration Ritual is the origin trait on every Ghosts of the Deep weapon, and it’s a good one. It reloads the weapon and readies an emergency reload for the next time the weapon is out of ammo after reviving an ally or defeating an enemy with a finisher. With Resoration Ritual on Cold Comfort, you can fire up to four rockets without having to reload.

For the Barrel, Quick Launch is the best option as it increases velocity by 10 points and handling by 15, which means better equip and movement speed with Cold Comfort and a faster rocket. Impact Casing is the best Magazine because it increases stability by 10 points which is good since we’ll be firing four rockets at a time, but it also gives a 10% damage increase on impact.

By far, the best Cold Comfort God Roll for PvE is Envious Assassin with Bait and Switch. Envious Assassin overflows the magazine of that weapon after getting kills with your other weapons. The max overflow is 150% and each kill overflows Power Weapons’ magazines by 20%. This is used to get four rockets into one magazine.

Bait and Switch is the go-to for this God Roll as it gives Cold Comfort a 35% increase to damage for 10 seconds after dealing damage with all your weapons within three seconds of one another. Bait and Switch does take some getting used to, but if you want to absolutely melt Simmumah Ur-Nokru, then go with Envious Assassin and Bait and Switch.

Destiny 2 Cold Comfort God Roll for PvP

While the Cold Comfort PvE God Roll works great in PvP, you might have better results with Impulsive Amplifier and Chill Clip. This is an excellent combo that’ll decimate enemies with one shot.

  • Barrel: Volatile Launch
  • Magazine: Black Powder
  • Perk 1: Impulse Amplifier
  • Perk 2: Explosive Light
  • Origin Trait: Restoration Ritual

We know what Restoration Ritual is and, unfortunately, it doesn’t help much in PvP.

However, to build the Cold Comfort PvP God Roll, go with Volatile Launch and Black Powder. This Barrel and Magazine combo increase the blast radius as much as possible by sacrificing some velocity and handling. Blast radius is king with this build as direct hits are hard to do in PvP and you can defeat multiple Guardians at once with high blast radius.

Impulse Amplifier is a great perk because it increases velocity by 35% and gives 10 points to reload speed. Those are great passive bonuses to always have on, especially since proc requirements in PvP are usually hard to achieve.

Last but not least, Explosive Light grants 100 points to blast radius and increases Rocket Launcher damage by 25%. This is a huge stacking buff that gets consumed per one shot, but the catch is that you have to pick up one Orb of Power to get a stack of Explosive Light. I would say Chill Clip is a great alternative option, and it is, but you have to land direct hits to get its effect, which can be hard in PvP.
