Duke Nukem Forever Was Intended To Go Gold Today

Former Duke Nukem Forever producer Jason Bergman has revealed that the long-delayed game was initially due to go gold on 1 April.A game going gold means that the game is finalised and sent off for manufacture, and Shacknews spotted that, according to Bergman, 1 April was the day this was meant to happen.“MOMENT OF SILENCE PLEASE: by the 3DR/TTWO development schedule, April 1st, 2010 was supposed to be the day Duke Nukem Forever went gold :(” Tweeted Bergman.Bergman later affirmed that the inherent humour in this date was intended, Tweeting “Totally intentional. It was going to be hilarious,” and later adding on the Shacknews comments that this isn’t an April Fool’s gag.Perpetually in development Duke Nukem Forever hit serious problems last year when 3D Realms closed its doors, quickly followed by a lawsuit brought against the company by Take-Two. Still, it’s not all bad – the countersuit revealed that the game is still in production.A genuine shame. That would’ve been a genuinely brilliant announcement to make on April Fool’s Day.
