This town slipped into a deep economic depression after over-spending on DLC.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody familiar with how videogames work in 2014, Assassin’s Creed: Unity will have a Season Pass. What may be slightly more surprising about this is that one of the included bits of DLC is a side-scrolling game set in 16th Century China.

No, really.

Let’s start with the more straightforward additions though. The Assassin’s Creed: Unity pass will add more weapons, costumes and missions for Arno to use and partake in throughout the main game. There will be three added missions (history has taught me that these probably won’t be all that interesting,) and “over 30” bits and pieces like weapons. You also get an “exclusive Fleur de Lys sword” on launch day. Good to know these bits were specially withheld for DLC rather than just being included. Thanks, Ubisoft.

A separate DLC campaign called Dead Kings will be part of the pass, too. This bit is due for release in “early 2015.” In it, you’ll be heading to the underground crypts of Saint Denis. This add-on will have extra outfits and weapons too, including the Guillotine gun. Sadly, this is not a gun which fires guillotines. It does fire explosives, though. There are some Dead Kings images at the bottom of this page (plus the windmill one, above.)

Finally, that side-scroller based in China. Developed by Climax Studios, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China is a 2.5D title in which Shao Jun, the last assassin of the Chinese Brotherhood has returned to her home land. This kind of looks like it might be a UbiArt engine game (Rayman, Valiant Hearts etc) but I’m not certain. It’s also due in early 2015.

The Season Pass will cost $30.00 USD which, it is claimed, provides around 8 extra hours of stuff to do.

You can see more of each of these things in the trailer, below. Assassin’s Creed: Unity comes out for the PC on 11 November in the US, 13 November in Europe.
