Non-profit PC gaming supporter PC Gaming Alliance (PCGA) announced it has eight more in its gang.

The new members include big retailer GameStop and Gas Powered Games, developers of Supreme Commander. Overall it’s a mix of games retailers, digital distribution vendors, social game developers and PC hardware companies.

Besides GameStop and Gas Powered Games, the other new members of the consortium are BFG Technologies, Bigfoot Networks, Flextronics, GameTap, Howie’s Game Shack, and InstantAction.

Gas Powered Games CEO and creative director Chris Taylor said “I’ve spent most of my career fully immersed in the world of PC gaming. It’s where many of the world’s biggest gaming franchises were born and where much of the industry’s innovation continues to this day.” He said that by joining the PCGA, “Gas Powered Games hopes to make contributions that keep PC gaming at the forefront of the industry, help it to overcome its challenges, and continue to fulfil its amazing potential.”

The PCGA was formed in February last year and is led by president Randy Stude, who is also director Intel’s Gaming Program Office. Microsoft, Capcom, Epic Games, Dell, AMD, and Nvidia are among the members.

PCGA has been criticised by media for being “kind of pointless,” and seen major market contributors Activision Blizzard and Acer leave the alliance in April this year.
