Aquacity Steam Announce Reveal

Build mecha-whales to fight sharks in underwater colony builder Aquacity, coming to Steam

The ocean on your shoulders.

In BioShock, you storm the underwater city of Rapture searching for its egotistical founder Andrew Ryan. But what if you were Andrew Ryan before things went south? Aquacity shouldn’t be compared to BioShock, of course. However, the game does put you in the role of someone in charge of creating a colony under the ocean. You can also turn whales into cyborgs, which is pretty much exactly what you expect when science goes wrong. Aquacity is coming to PC via Steam.

As far as city builders go, Aquacity shouldn’t surprise. You start off small, creating foundations upon which you build necessary machines to provide power or create drinkable water. Resources litter the underwater world, and you naturally have to go and collect it to expand your growing base. There are scientists who work on new projects, and military units for defense. But defend against what, you may ask? So far, it seems like your greatest threats exist with sharks and some prehistoric-looking monsters. For those, you may want to equip a nearby whale with some bio-tech.

Indeed, Aquacity will allow you to play god with some ocean creatures. You’ll be able to gain the technology to create bio-mechs. In the trailer, it shows the unholy union of science and nature with a biomechanical whale. What was once a gentle giant of the seas is now mutated, strapped with metal parts. From what I can tell, it’s all justified as means to kick more shark ass.

I am the God of the depths

So far, there’s not much else known about the game. It was announced earlier today by developer Evor Games. Aquacity will launch for PC on Steam, but it’s too early for a release date. Hopefully the team will show off more on the game as time passes. I’m hoping to see more on the bio-mechs. Let me attach some rusted knives on a swarm of crabs and you have my interest.
