Are Golden Trove Beetles buffs permanent? Answered

These little beetles are more helpful than you think.

As you explore the open world of Dragon’s Dogma 2, you may encounter trees with gold beetles hanging on them. After using the Golden Trove Beetle, you’ll notice a notification mentioning that you can now carry more weight.

Do Golden Trove Beetles increase carry weight permanently?

The Golden Trove Beetle buff is indeed permanent. Every time you consume the Golden Trove Beetle, your carry weight will increase by 0.15 kg and will stay that way for the remainder of the game. It doesn’t sound like a big number, but it will add up the longer you play and collect more gold beetles from trees.

So far, I have spent around 30 hours on Dragon’s Dogma 2 and have found around 20 Golden Trove Beetles. They are not that rare, surprisingly, and I am confident you’ll find enough to raise your carry weight significantly. Just remember always to keep your eyes peeled.

Can pawns use Golden Trove Beetles?

If you were wondering, you cannot use Golden Trove Beetles on your pawn. This would have been nice, but unfortunately, the option to use the beetle when your pawn is holding the item is greyed out. I tested to see if my pawn would consume it herself when holding onto it, but she never did. I prefer my Pawn to carry all the extra items I find on my adventures, like spare food, ingredients, potions, etc.

Best way to find Golden Trove Beetles

Golden Trove Beetles are best found at night, as they are much easier to see in the dark. They give off a gold glow, which can be incredibly hard to notice during the daytime. If you want to go farming for Golden Trove Beetles, I recommend you prepare for nighttime and search areas with a bunch of trees. Remember, Golden Trove Beetles can only be found on trees and nowhere else.
