Dragon’s Dogma 2 is not an online game, although the Pawns you’ll encounter come from other players, providing a strange quasi-multiplayer functionality. Can you encounter and summon pawns from other platforms?
Can you summon Pawns from other Platforms in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Unfortunately, Dragon’s Dogma 2 does not support cross-platform, meaning you are limited to the Pawns on your platform. This may come as a disappointment to many, especially those with friends on different platforms whose Pawns you’d wish to hire.
Upon even trying to enter the Pawn ID from a friend, an error will pop up, saying that they’re unable to find that Pawn.
I experienced this with a fellow writer. I input his Pawns’ ID exactly (JIZ4K8FLLHU8), and he did the same for my Pawn (RDDD74BII26N). We couldn’t summon each other’s Pawns, as he plays on PS5 and I play on PC, which was a huge shame. I felt rather left out as the PS5 writers shared each other’s Pawns, and my poor Beastren Archer couldn’t be a part of the fun.
So if you were hoping your friend’s Pawn could carry you, you’ll simply have to pay the Rift Crystals for another powerful Pawn, or use one of the official Pawns.
You can also use the filter settings to get a Pawn that matches your friend’s Pawn, so it’ll be like having them along in spirit. It’s not the same, but is all you can do. Alternatively, beg them to buy the same device as you and buy the game again.
Will Dragon’s Dogma 2 have cross-platform?
Nothing official has been stated about cross-platform coming to Dragon’s Dogma 2. Considering it’s not huge on the multiplayer, as it’s just Pawn summoning, it may not be a priority on their minds. I wouldn’t count on it coming any time soon, if at all.
Also, Capcom doesn’t have a great history with cross-platform games, so your pessimism is not unfounded.
If something does get said regarding cross-platform for Dragon’s Dogma 2, then I’ll make sure to amend this section, but until then, we can only pine over Pawns we’ll never get to play with. But don’t lose hope, there is a chance it gets added as many will be complaining about this not being a feature.
So it looks like we’ll be relying on strangers or other friends on the same platform to fulfill our Pawn Quests.
