Studio Wildcard has announced that their dinosaur themed survival game ARK: Survival Evolved will be getting a special Halloween update that includes everything from pumpkin carving to zombie dodo birds.
The in-game event titled “ARK: Fear Evolved” will include a shorter day cycle with longer nights and a daunting red moon. At night, bats and other devilish beasts will appear in the game world, and players will have the ability to carve pumpkins. The “powerful undead beasts” include zombie dodo birds who accompany a creature called “Dodorex”. Which is most likely exactly what it sounds like – a cross between a dodo bird and tyrannosaurus. If you successfully slay the beasts, you will earn limited edition treats.
More details about the holiday event are to be announced in the coming weeks with the update going live at the end of October and lasting for about a week.
ARK: Survival Evolved also revealed through a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) that the game has sold more than 2 million copies despite still being in Early Access mode. The full version of the game on PC is scheduled for a 2016 release.
