Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed game proton pack beam

Asymmetric multiplayer game Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is out now

Haunt or be haunted.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, a new asymmetrical multiplayer game based on the popular multimedia franchise, just recently came out on PC via the Epic Games Store. This game pits four players, who each control a Ghostbuster, against a single player controlling a ghost character. It’s a setup not too dissimilar to the Luigi’s Ghost Mansion minigame from Nintendo Land. Unlike many other online multiplayer-centric games, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed does allow you to experience a single-player mode either with friends or AI bot partners. So regardless of whether or not you regularly play multiplayer games, you may find something to enjoy here if you like the Ghostbusters IP.

When controlling a Ghostbuster, you have to make use of proton packs, ghost traps, and other tools to capture the ghost. Through the use of their PKE Meter, Ghostbusters can find the rifts that ghosts use as spawn points. Upon doing so, they can activate their proton pack’s particle thrower to destroy the rifts and corner the ghost more easily.

Are you afraid of no ghosts?

When playing as the ghost, on the other hand, you employ a whole host of abilities, including object possession and sliming, to gain an edge over the Ghostbusters and completely haunt the map. You can choose from a selection of five ghost types, each with their own special traits. You can even send off a few ectoplasm-fueled minions to do your bidding. Additionally, ghosts have the aforementioned rifts at their disposal to escape danger, and they can place these rifts in certain spots to avoid getting trapped.

Those who find the idea of an asymmetric multiplayer game based on the Ghostbusters property interesting can purchase Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed for $39.99 USD. The developers aimed to appeal to classic Ghostbusters fans not just with the iconography, but also with some of the actors from the original movie. So those who appreciate that sort of fan service have that to look forward to.
