What are the best Scorched Earth base locations in Ark Survival Ascended?

The five Scorched Earth base locations I’ve highlighted in this guide are the wyvern trench cave, slot canyon cave, mountaintop, church cave, and arch cave. If you’re ready to move on from the best bases in The Island, these are the five best base locations discovered so far in Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth.

Wyvern trench cave base location – ASA Scorched Earth

  • Wyvern Trench Cave Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Wyvern Trench Cave Entrance Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Wyvern Trench Cave Map Location Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Wyvern trench cave coordinates – Latitude: 59.1, Longitude: 16.3

There is a new cave in the wyvern trench in Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth. This cave is located within the wyvern trench which makes it dangerous to get to, but it’s the best location on this list because of its beauty and how defendable it is.

The lava water cave holds the explorer note for the Oasisaur, has plenty of open spaces for large-scale building, and lots of ways to be creative with with your defenses. Whether you’re playing PvP or PvE, I highly recommend checking out the lava water cave.

Slot Canyon cave – ASA Scorched Earth

  • Slot Canyon Base Entrance Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Slot Canyon Entrance Cave Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Slot Canyon Map Location Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Slot Canyon cave coordinates – Latitude: 58.8, Longitude: 47.7

While it might not be the best place to farm Oil Veins, the slot canyon cave is known as one of the best caves in Ark Survival Evolved, and it’s still incredible in Ark Survival Ascended. What makes the Slot Canyon cave great is it’s hard to find and get into because it is situated in a slot canyon and has a low ceiling entrance that prohibits big dinosaurs from entering.

Slot Canyon cave is by far the biggest cave on this list. In general, the ceiling is high and the areas are massive. There is one tight choke point with the spiderweb tunnel, but other than that, this cave is spacious. If that’s what you’re looking for, then this is the cave for you.

Mountaintop base location – ASA Scorched Earth

  • Mountaintop Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Mountaintop Base Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Mountaintop Base Map Location Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Mountaintop coordinates – Latitude: 70.4, Longitude: 27.5

Caves make for the best bases in PvP because they provide the best natural defenses. However, having a height advantage is also useful in PvP and PvE. If you don’t want a cave base, then this mountaintop base is a good option. The peaks are small but can be connected and built upon.

The mountaintop base is more of an option for casual players. It offers beautiful scenery of Scorched Earth while providing you with a space to build a mansion in the clouds.

Church cave base location – ASA Scorched Earth

  • Church Base Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Church Base Entrance Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Church Base Map Location Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Church cave coordinates – Latitude: 78.3, Longitude: 76.1

One of the best caves to make your base in Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth is what’s known as the church cave. This cave benefits from having a large church structure guarding its entrance which you can build a lot of defenses around. The cave itself is extremely deep, has defendable choke points thanks to the tunnels, and contains one of the Artifacts.

The church cave works well as a PvP and PvE base. The one thing it doesn’t excel at is giving you a large space for breeding. Though the cave is deep and long, it’s narrow and doesn’t have many large, open spaces.

Arch cave base location – ASA Scorched Earth

  • Arch Cave Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Arch Cave Entrance Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Arch Cave Map Location Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
  • Arch cave coordinates – Latitude: 27.9, Longitude: 29.5

If you’re looking for a base that’s more hidden and has more space for breeding, the arch cave is what you want. I call it the arch cave because the cave entrance is right next to a large mountainside with a natural arch. The cave entrance is hard to find which will work in your favor.

The cave itself has long, narrow hallways that offer a few defendable spots. More importantly, there are a couple of spots within the cave that are wider. These areas are great for creating your base and breeding. You can spend time learning how to tame Fasolasuchus here.
