The best characters in Persona 5 Tactica, ranked

Ranking the best characters in Persona 5 Tactica is something that’s pretty subjective, as all of the characters are very usable in some way. This is much like the original Persona 5, where even the “worst” characters were still perfectly fine to use in combat, thanks to the malleable combat system. This is much the same in Persona 5 Tactica, with the main factor behind a unit’s ranking in this tier list being how useful their skills/weapons and party selection buffs are. So here’s the tier list of the best characters in Persona 5 Tactica.

  • S Tier – Joker, Makoto, Ann
  • A Tier – Erina, Yusuke
  • B Tier – Ryuji, Haru, Mona

In the top tier, we have Joker, Makoto, and Ann. These three were my go-to characters for the entirety of Persona 5 Tactica thanks to how devastating they were when they were on the field together. Individually their skill selection and general usefulness are great too, with them having the three most useful party selection buffs in Gun Damage, Melee Damage, and SP. Joker is probably the best of all of these, thanks to his versatility in combat. He unlocks a buffing skill if you need it, and thanks to elemental weaknesses not existing in this game, you can equip him with a sub-persona to make up for other elements of your team, like not having a healer.

It turns out, everyone is pretty good!

Makoto is also a very handy addition and is one of the best characters in Persona 5 Tactica, as her Melee Damage is pretty amazing, she also has a single target gun, which is very handy for making sure you knock down specific enemies, and she can unlock a healing skill from her Skill Tree, making her a great option for an offensive healer if you need a healer.

Ann is probably the best of the persona skill users in Persona 5 Tactica, and with her party selection buff allowing for more SP for the entire party, she’s a lock for the top tier in this tier list.

For the tiers below the top, they’re all still fantastic characters to use in Persona 5 Tactica. For example, Erina was always the first person I’d Baton Pass to if one of my party members got downed, and I’d find myself using Ryuji a lot too. But in my opinion, some of their roles are fulfilled better by people above them in the tier list, hence their positioning. They’re all still great, and fully usable for the entire game, but from my experience, there are better fits for the unit type that they are.
