Best easter eggs in Modern Warfare Zombies (MWZ)

Let the hunt begin.

Modern Warfare Zombies is filled with easter eggs, callbacks to old-school Call of Duty Zombies, and hidden secrets. As I’ve played through several matches and researched online, here are some of the best easter eggs I’ve found so far.

Zeus the Hellhound in Modern Warfare Zombies

My favorite east egg so far is Zeus, the pet dog Hellhound. If you want to summon Zeus the Hellhound, check out our step-by-step guide. Zeus is a good boy who has a lot of health, deals okay damage, and acts as a great decoy to help you clear out zombies.

Those Zeus isn’t in any other Call of Duty Zombies, he is a secret companion you can get in MWZ. The tallest dog ever recorded in the world was a Great Dane named Zeus which I’m guessing is where the name comes from.

What is “Haha, Bye Bye” in Modern Warfare Zombies?

While you’re playing a match in Modern Warfare Zombies, you’ll likely hear an evil laugh followed by a “bye bye.” Though I haven’t played Call of Duty Zombies since Black Ops, my research leads me to believe that this is a callback to the more recent Call of Duty Zombies, the bosses in particular.

It seems that zombie bosses in Vanguard or Cold War had a similar “bye bye” catchphrase. Through a friend on Reddit, I learned that “bye bye” is said whenever the Mystery Box is used too much and moves locations.

Glyph Gate AKA Zero-Point Interdimensional Portal in Modern Warfare Zombies

Call of Duty Zombies has always been no stranger to time travel and interdimensional jumping. In Modern Warfare Zombies, there is a secret portal that can be used to fast travel around the map. Players are calling it a Glyph Gate but the portal itself is called the Zero-Point Interdimensional Portal.

I wrote an article breaking the Glyph Gate news which includes where to find it. Once we figure out what all the glyph codes are and where all the Glyph Gates are located, we’ll be able to fast travel (for the low cost of 1,000 Essence) around Urzikstan which, to me, is a really cool easter egg.

Melee kills give more Essence in Modern Warfare Zombies

How to find Dual Kamas in Modern Warfare Zombies (MWZ)

If you played old-school Call of Duty Zombies, you’ll remember only getting melee kills for the first few rounds. This not only saved your ammo, but it gave you more Points to buy new areas and weapons. A cool thing about MWZ, that I tested and discovered myself, is that melee kills reward more Essence than weapon kills.

Whether you use the traditional melee button with your weapon or use a cool melee weapon like the Dual Kamas, melee kills give you five more Essence, so you’ll earn 15 Essence per melee kill instead of 10 which is what weapon kills get you. This is the same amount as a headshot kill, but still, it’s a nice touch. I love this little easter egg as it reminds me of my treasured memories of meleeing zombies behind fenced-up windows with my brothers and friends when I was younger.

Cymbal Monkey AKA Monkey Bomb in Modern Warfare Zombies

The Monkey Bomb, introduced in Der Riese in Call of Duty: World at War, makes a return in Modern Warfare Zombies, but this time it’s called Cymbal Monkey. There are many ways to get a Cymbal Monkey, but this OG Call of Duty Zombies lethal is a great callback and still an amazing tool.

When deployed, Cymbal Monkey pulls all nearby zombies to it and, after about 10 seconds, it explodes and deletes every zombie gathered around it. Cymbal Monkey is perfect when exfiling or when trying to loot while lots of zombies are around.

Christmas Car in Modern Warfare Zombies

Note: As pointed out to me on Reddit, the Christmas car is only a vehicle skin unlocked from Warzone. Read on to get a glimpse into my Jack Skellington “What does it mean?” bag, but know that it’s just a vehicle skin, not an actual easter egg.

Last but not least, I found a car in Modern Warfare Zombies that was decked out in full Christmas regalia. To my knowledge, this isn’t a callback to anything, it’s just a goofy easter egg you can find to celebrate the season.

I’m not sure if the Christmas car is seasonal or if it’s an easter egg with staying power, but either way, it’s cool. I found it by the exfil point in Levin Resort. However, I just saved a solo player in another squad when I found it and I think he drove it over to Levin Resort.

You can look for a Christmas car around Levin Resort, but I don’t think that’s where it spawns in. I would suggest searching around an area with a mall like Zaravan City or Old Town.

I’m sure there are many other wonderful easter eggs hidden in MWZ, but those are the best ones I’ve found so far. What’s your favorite MWZ easter egg so far?
