Men of War 2: Best graphical setting for performance

Right off the bat, one of the best ways to increase performance is to lower the resolution in which your game is playing. Under the settings menu, click on Resolution and select a lower one to increase your performance almost immediately. If that does not work, then experiment with the following settings:

With the visual overhaul that Men of War 2 has gone through, several players with past-generation PC parts will probably have a bit of trouble running the game to its fullest, especially if you are trying to summon a giant army. After all, not every player has a 4090 just waiting there to be used.

Here are some settings you can adjust to get better performance in Men of War 2:

  • CPU Usage: Medium or Low. Given that many games are CPU-intensive, lowering the range in which the CPU is stressed while playing will improve your performance. This will also apply to the GPU.
  • Texture Detail: Medium. Lowering texture resolution will impact heavily on the performance of Men of War 2 since the game won’t have to render high-quality textures.
  • Shadows: Off. This is probably one of the most overlooked graphical settings in games. If you want to improve your performance dramatically, lower the Shadows quality or even disable it altogether.
  • Model Quality: Low. Reducing the overall quality of the actual models will also affect your performance. Set it to medium.
  • Effects Quality: Medium or Low. While reducing this will make the game feel a bit duller and less realistic, reducing your visual effects quality (e.g. explosions, smoke, etc.) will be a great way to gain some FPS.
  • Water Reflections: No reflections. You would be surprised at how reflections can impact your performance! Thankfully this isn’t ray-traced, so just turn it off.
  • View Distance: 50 to 70%. Play with the slider so that your game manages how many of the textures and models are loaded on the screen depending on the distance between you and them. A good old-quality performance booster.

Be sure to experiment with all the graphical settings above to find the balance between graphic fidelity and performance. That way, you will be able to still have a game that runs well but also is a feast to the eye. Not that these settings will need to vary greatly if you are playing in the Steam Deck, which is possible by the way.
