The Finals: Best Weapons Ranked

As your weapon selection is dictated by what Class you use, throwing every gun in the same list doesn’t make sense. With this in mind, I’ll review each Class’s arsenal separately. Embark Studios have done a great job with weapon balancing and have shown they aren’t afraid to shake things up with patches. Here are my picks for the best guns for each Class, but don’t let my opinion stop you from using your favorites.

V95

It may be a little premature to call the pistol the best weapon for the Light Class, but it’s definitely up there. The V95 is a semi-automatic monster with 20 rounds and plenty of stopping power. If you get the drop on your opponents, you can kill them blindingly fast, and if you land a headshot or 2, it has an outrageous TTK (time to kill).

If you can add a headshot into the mix, you can kill another Light player in 3 hits. As the V95 isn’t automatic, it takes skill to land consecutive shots, but if you bring the aim, the V95 will take care of the rest.

SH1900

While it requires pairing with the Cloaking Device, the SH1900 is a phenomenally strong Shotgun if you can get close. The SH1900 forces players into an ‘all or nothing’ playstyle but can kill every Class in the game in 2 shots if every pellet hits.

In my testing, the SH1900 can kill Light players in a single hit. That alone is enough for me to recommend it. You can beat Medium and Heavy Classes in 2 well-placed blasts, and you can go for body shots to land these more frequently. Naturally, you’re dead if you need to reload in a fight but pick your moment, and you won’t have to.

M11

The M11 is the Light starting weapon, and wow, what an introduction to the Class! This SMG has a tremendous rate of fire and works perfectly with a high-risk, stealth playstyle. You won’t win face-to-face gunfights with the Light Class, but with your tiny health pool, you’re not supposed to.

If you can get in, empty your gun, and get out, you can erase opponents with the starter SMG. Pair it with the Cloaking Device Specialization, and you can score valuable picks and escape.

Best Weapons for the Medium Class in The Finals

#1 AKM

The AKM is the Medium starting weapon, encapsulating what the Class is all about. This Assault Rifle deals decent damage across all ranges and is easy to control.

The low recoil makes it easy to track targets with the AKM, and the magazine is just large enough to engage multiple foes. The assault rifle is arguably the most versatile weapon in the game and is useable on all maps, no matter what you’re doing.

#2 Model 1887

The Model 1887 is a niche weapon, forcing you to fight up close if you want consistency. That said, this weapon can hit targets pretty far away and secure kills from surprising ranges. The Shotgun deals fantastic damage in the right situations, which often come up in The Finals.

I struggle to force close-range fights, but if you can work around that, the Model 1887 is an absolute powerhouse. This weapon requires smart play and a steady hand to secure kills but lacks the versatility of Assault Rifles.

#3 FCAR

If you enjoy the AKM but wish it had a scope, the FCAR is the closest you’ll get. The scope means the FCAR is decent for poking at opponents in the distance and is suitable for holding an area with a height advantage.

Unfortunately, the FCAR feels like it shoots marshmallows compared to its unscoped rival and suffers from a decent amount of kick. I know some players swear by scopes, which is why I’ve recommended the FCAR, but if you can make do without it, I would pick the AKM.

Remember, you can bring reserve equipment into The Finals; both Assault Rifles are versatile if you want to experiment on the field.

Best Weapons for the Heavy Class in The Finals

#3 Lewis Gun

Both machine guns for the Heavy Class suffer from a ton of kick, but I find the Lewis Gun to be more controllable. If your shots land, the Lewis Gun does respectable damage and has a big enough magazine for you to engage multiple foes.

The Lewis Gun has a weird horizontal recoil pattern that will take time to get used to. That said, it’s got decent sights and a respectable reload speed. If you’re looking for versatility, The M60 or Lewis Gun are both potent options, but I prefer the latter.

#3 Sledgehammer

I can’t believe I’m about to recommend a melee weapon but hear me out. The Sledgehammer does a ton of damage, and the Heavy Class can lean into this with their superior health pool.

You can splat a Light player with a single vertical smash, and even wildly swinging yields devastating results up close. You’re a sitting duck in the open but terrifying indoors. While I would suggest against taking the Sledgehammer into a sweaty ranked lobby, there’s no denying the weapon damage potential.

#3 Flamethrower

The Flamethrower is a unique weapon in The Finals. While the damage output is pretty low, the flames hit a massive area, and you can spray for ages. Another standout feature of the Flamethrower is you can ignite environmental items like trees and grass.I’m a fan of burst damage, but the Flamethrower has potential in The Finals, where players are forced to hold areas.

My only issue with the weapon is the low damage output, as spraying a target makes their health bars slowly tick down. I still think it has uses in a cohesive team just waiting to be unlocked by the community.
