Betraying colour: Betrayer FPS announced by six ex-Monolith devs

Is your world too colourful and full of rainbows? Perhaps this new title called Betrayer will darken your life. The game is being developed by Blackpowder Games which includes six ex-Monolith devs who have worked on NOLF and and F.E.A.R.

Coming to you in full black and white mode with splashes of red, the game can be described as an open world FPS set in colonial America during 1604. You will join a struggling English colony on the Virginia coast but instead of happy colonists you’re going to come across all kinds of mysteries and even ghosts.

“We wanted to get back to crafting games more intuitively,” said Creative Director Craig Hubbard. “There’s a sense of discovery and excitement when you navigate by instinct rather than market research and open yourself up to opportunities that arise during development.”

It all sounds quite experimental, but sometimes the  experimental games are the most interesting ones. The game which is set to hit Steam Early Access on 14 August.
