Xur Destiny 2

Get Year 2 exotic variants from Xur just before Destiny 2: Forsaken launches

For PC players of Destiny 2 just learning about Xur now, his arrival each weekend was usually greeted with much anticipation. However, due to the nature of certain exotic items that he’s sold in previous months, and how easy they were to obtain, he’s become somewhat irrelevant. Still, there’s a particular surprise — or “Xurprise” — in store for you if you check out his wares now. That’s because you can obtain Year 2 variants of exotic armor before Forsaken goes live on September 4.

Xur Destiny 2 Winding Cove

Destiny 2 — Xur and Year 2 exotic armor variants

This weekend, Xur is chilling at his usual spot in the EDZ’s Winding Cove right by the Fallen ship. He’s just a hop or two from the Fallen captain that spawns at the back.

As you can see, he’s selling three exotic armors that do not have the Forsaken icon but still have Year 2 perks. Since I had a lot of shards to spare, I bought several to see if they’d have different rolls each time. Sadly, they did not.

Still, it might be a good idea to pick these up if you feel that their perks are good as is. Hopefully, you’ve got the resources to spare.

Hunters – Knucklehead Radar

The Knucklehead Radar’s main perk still grants a radar whenever you’re aiming. The additional perks for the Year 2 variant are as follows.

Weapon/ability perks (choose one):

  • increased target acquisition, accuracy, and aim-down-sights for bows
  • increased target acquisition, accuracy, and aim-down-sights for hand cannons
  • gain more super energy on melee kills

Ammo perks (choose one):

  • additional shotgun ammo in reserves when you pick up special boxes
  • chance to find more heavy ammo on kill

Titans – Ashen Wake

The Ashen Wake grants improved fusion grenades as its main perk.

The additional perks for the Year 2 variant are as follows.

Weapon/ability perks (choose one):

  • improved reload for fusion rifles
  • improved reload for hand cannons
  • melee damage reduces grenade cooldown

Ammo perks (choose one):

  • additional shotgun ammo in reserves when you pick up special boxes
  • chance to find more heavy ammo on kill

Warlocks – Vesper of Radius

The Vesper of Radius grants an Arc shockwave when you cast your Rift, and your Rift charges faster when surrounded by enemies. The additional perks for the Year 2 variant are as follows.

Weapon/ability perks (choose one):

  • decreased flinch from incoming fire when aiming with bows
  • decreased flinch from incoming fire when aiming with fusion rifles
  • decreased flinch from incoming fire when aiming with sniper rifles

Ammo perks (choose one):

  • additional ammo for scout rifles
  • chance to find more special ammo on kill

More Exotics before Forsaken? More fun

As mentioned in a previous article, you can continue to look for exotics in Destiny 2. Armors drop with their Year 2 Forsaken perks which allow you to plan ahead if you like to keep them for the synergy and find some use for them later on. Some of them might have odd combinations that you’d scoff at. Meanwhile, others could have an amazing synergy that makes them godly to behold.

Destiny 2: Forsaken rolls around on September 4. These exotics are sure to get you ready for the upcoming expansion.
