The Pokemon Company and Game Freak are coming together to put Detective Pikachu Returns on Nintendo Switch on October 6, 2023.

It has yet to be revealed how Detective Pikachu Returns will play — the trailer we got just showed cinematics of Pikachu chilling, talking, and drinking coffee. However, if I got my wish, Detective Pikachu Returns would play like an old-school side-scrolling adventure like The Return to Monkey Island.

Who plays Pikachu in Detective Pikachu Returns?

Of course, the question everyone is asking is who plays Pikachu in Detective Pikachu Returns? Sorry Ryan Reynolds, but Pikachu is voiced by Will Arnett in Detective Pikachu Returns.

Will Arnett has the perfect serious detective voice and also has the talent to throw some comedy into the performance. We can’t wait to explore with Pikachu, especially since he’ll be Will Arnett, in Detective Pikachu Returns.

Will Detective Pikachu Returns follow the plot of the movie?

It hasn’t been revealed what the story of Detective Pikachu Returns is yet. Though we did see a sneak peek of Mewtwo, we doubt Detective Pikachu Returns will follow the Detective Pikachu movie.

If the plot of the game does follow the movie, it will need to add some creative liberties so that the mystery isn’t predictable for those who have seen the movie. Because there is a mystery to solve, we think there will be a new plot to experience in Detective Pikachu Returns.

If you haven’t seen Detective Pikachu yet, there’s still time to check it out, especially since Detective Pikachu Returns doesn’t come out until October 6, 2023.
