Does Mythforce have crossplay?

Maximizing options.

If the Saturday morning cartoon vibes of Mythforce catch your interest, you may want to get a friend or two to play with you. This is not just because games, especially multiplayer-focused ones, are often more fun with friends, but also because Mythforce doesn’t really balance the campaign with a single player in mind. Of course, your friends may not own the same gaming platforms that you do, so making use of a crossplay feature would prove ideal in this scenario. But not every multiplayer game supports crossplay, so does the same apply to Mythforce?

Is crossplay an option in Mythforce?

As it turns out, Mythforce unfortunately does not allow friends, family, or strangers to experience the game together through crossplay. Julius Borisov, a community manager for Mythforce developer Beamdog, confirmed this in response to a question on Reddit. The title does let both Steam and Epic Games Store players join a game, but that pretty much serves as the extent of its cross-platform functionality. Borisov cites “a lot of technical limitations and reasons” when discussing why PC players can’t have sessions with Nintendo Switch players specifically.

Unfortunately, the limitations of Mythforce‘s multiplayer do not end there, as the game doesn’t support split-screen multiplayer, either. As of right now, Mythforce only allows you to play online with up to three other players or by yourself. So if you and a friend would like to try a round or two of Mythforce together, you will not only have to play on separate systems, but you also have to make sure to play it on the same platform.

Needless to say, the lack of both crossplay and split-screen in Mythforce heavily limits the options of those wanting to play together. There may have been justifiable reasons for these omissions, but they will nonetheless remain disappointing for many players.
