EA has secured the only official release of the European fooball championship. The game will be released ahead of a real-world tournament in June in Austria and Switzerland.
With over 50 national teams to choose from, you’ll be able to use your favourite team (and see all the players’ pretty faces) and take them to glory. Natuarally you’ll be able to change the course of the tournament by playing from qualification level. So you might not get too far. All the official stadiums will be part and parcel of the package of course.
The new game mode, Captain Your Country, allows players to earn the captaincy of the their team too. You’ll be able to get involved in post-goal, on-pitch celebrations that will take your camaraderie to new virtual heights. Great.
So if you share the same “passion” as Lead Producer Simon Humer has, “by capturing all of the national rivalries in-game,” or “play as your heroes and inspire them [your team] to glory,” then this is certainly the game for you.
Or even if you enjoy football enough at national level, then this too, may be a game for you.
Heck, if you enjoy online games, you can be reigned as global supremo of Euro 2008 in Battle of Nations game mode.
This could go either way, and no doubt we’ll get a review of it up as soon as we can get our mittens on a copy, but we do know that EA do get their sports games right, but I’m not so sure about celebrations…
Oh, by the way, if you were expecting a PC release, sorry. EA haven’t confirmed when that’ll be out!
