Ea Motive Studio Iron Man Game

EA’s Motive Studio confirms it’s working on an Iron Man game with former Guardians of the Galaxy producer

Now the time is here.

Electronic Arts has confirmed that its own Motive Studio is working on a new Iron Man game. The team is taking on the project as it finishes up work on the impressive-looking Dead Space remake. And Motive won’t be alone in its endeavors. As part of the announcement, Marvel Games is collaborating on getting Tony Stark back onto the digital scene. EA Motive has also brought in an experienced Marvel video game vet. Olivier Proulx, who worked on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, has taken lead on the project.

Motive’s Iron Man game will be a single-player, third-person action game. It’s still very early in development in the pre-production phase, so don’t expect to hear about it again for quite some time. However, in its press release, EA promises that the game “taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man.” Hopefully there isn’t a mini-game where you chase down classes of whiskey. That’s probably one aspect of Tony Stark we can leave for the more dramatic pages of his comic.

The project is being led by Proulx, who was a producer on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. For those unaware, unlike Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers, Guardians ended up with a much more positive reception. Guardians was a more linear single-player adventure, free of the live service fluff that dragged the Avengers down. With Proulx, EA Motive has someone who already knows how to make a pretty decent Marvel single-player game — and that’s good news for Iron Man.

“It’s an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to make a video game based on one of the most iconic Super Heroes in entertainment today,” said Proulx in the announcement post. “We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own. Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.”
