Elden Ring: Carian Study Hall guide (normal and inverted)

Carian Study Hall is a fairly tricky dungeon in Elden Ring's Liurnia of the Lakes region. Primarily, it's because a certain item is required, but you'll get sent all over the place just to obtain it. Well, don't fret, since we're with you all the way. Here's our Elden Ring Carian Study Hall guide to help you clear this dungeon, find that item for the pedestal, and see if we can actually cause this whole place to become inverted. Elden Ring Carian Study Hall guide - The pedestal item and the inverted tower Carian Study Hall in Elden Ring can be found at the eastern section of Liurnia of the Lakes. The closest fast travel point is Eastern Tableland. You can follow the road leading down to the lower area to reach the tower's entrance (as seen in the map below). Because we're discussing various facets regarding the Carian Study Hall in Elden Ring, I've split up this guide into multiple sections. You can refer to the pages below for the parts that you need help with: Clearing the normal version of the tower Where to find that item The inverted version of the tower Another secret area Elden Ring Carian Study Hall guide - The normal tower Let's discuss the normal version of the Carian Study Hall tower in Elden Ring. When you enter Carian Study Hall, you'll see a specter and a pedestal in front of a globe. If you try to interact with it, it says that something fits, but you're not sure what that is. Ignore it for now and proceed further. As you make your way to the massive library, you'll be attacked by a hostile NPC named Preceptor Miriam. She'll primarily use a charged Glintstone Greatbow, which is going to hurt if you can't avoid it. While this is going on, several Glintstone Specters will also attack you. Ideally, you'll want to roll to avoid Preceptor Miriam's projectiles. Damaging her will cause her to teleport periodically until she reaches the next area. At the top, you'll find a Carian Glintstone Staff as well. The next area has several beams that you can reach by climbing a ladder. The beams are actually a good spot to trade shots with Preceptor Miriam, as your bow/crossbow would be able to cancel her spellcasting. You may also sidestep to avoid her blast. However, beware of other Specters that are attempting to climb, too. In any case, defeating your foe nets you the Magic Downpour Sorcery spell. Next, continue climbing so you can grab the Cerulean Seed Talisman. It boosts FP restoration from Flasks of Cerulean Tears. Now, you might be wondering why there's an upside-down staircase and a watery area that will instantly kill you. Well, since we got all the loot from the normal variant, let's see what we can do to turn everything around. All right, let's go to the next part of our Elden Ring Carian Study Hall guide to talk about the important item that we need. Elden Ring Carian Study Hall guide - Where to find the item for the pedestal Let's discuss the key item that we need for the pedestal in the Carian Study Hall tower in Elden Ring. The item that we need for the pedestal in Carian Study Hall is called the Carian Inverted Statue. But, the way to get it is extremely taxing. Here's the gist (which I've covered in detail in the guides that I'll link): Make your way to Caria Manor and defeat Royal Knight Loretta. This grants you access to Three Sisters/Ranni's Rise. Ranni the Witch may or may not allow you to serve her. In my case, here's what I had already done in my campaign: I already defeated Starscourge Radahn in Caelid. I had access to a secret region called Nokron Eternal City. If you can serve Ranni, that means her personal quest is active. You can then go to Night's Sacred Ground in Nokron Eternal City. There, you'll pick up the Fingerslaying Blade. Ranni will, finally, hand over the Carian Inverted Statue. Hurray! After placing the key item on the pedestal, you can watch and enjoy the short cinematic. All right, let's go to the next part of our Elden Ring Carian Study Hall guide to talk about the inverted version of the tower. Elden Ring Carian Study Hall guide - The inverted tower Let's discuss the inverted version of the Carian Study Hall tower in Elden Ring. Start by jumping down the elevator shaft to the ledge. Pass through the narrow gap and beware of Spider Hands lurking here. Again, Preceptor Miriam will show herself. Make sure you can snipe and cancel her spellcasting, too. Miriam will drop the Lucidity Sorcery spell, and you can also pick up the Mask of Confidence at the other side of this section. Go further ahead until you reach the chandeliers. Make sure you can drop on them so you don't fall to your doom. Then, at the beams, walk gingerly as well and be careful here. Finally, you should reach the upside-down staircase that you saw earlier. You'll notice a panel that you can step on. This will cause the entire staircase to move down like an elevator. Open the doorway to reveal the path that takes you to the Divine Tower of Liurnia. Rest at the Site of Grace and be ready. Elden Ring boss fight: Godskin Noble If you've already beaten Rykard in Volcano Manor, then you'll know what to expect since this fella's a miniboss there. If not, then watch out for its stab combos and Deathscourge projectiles. At 50% HP, it will gain new abilities, such as the Rolling Pin and Mighty Butt Crash, both of which will flatten you. Its Deathscourge Nova will also pulse and cause damage before creating a massive blast. After defeating this foe, you'll obtain the Godskin Noble armor set. Proceed all the way to the Divine Tower of Liurnia and take the lift to the top. There, you'll see a corpse and, instead of activating a Great Rune, you can pick up the Stargazer's Heirloom and Cursemark of Death. The former is a talisman that increases INT by +5. The latter, meanwhile, is another key item that we'll be using as part of Ranni's quest. All right, for the next part of our guide series, we'll take a look at another secret underground area that we can access. Let's head over to Nokstella Eternal City. Note: The Cursemark of Death is also used to battle Lichdragon Fortissax in Deeproot Depths (yes, it's also another secret area).
