Genshin Impact Aranyaka Part 1 guide – Woodland Encounter with Rana and the Aranara
You can throw your expectations out the door when you’re doing the Aranyaka Part 1 quest chain in Genshin Impact. It’s also going to take you several hours to finish all the tasks, so make sure you’re well prepared.
To get started with the quest, you’ll simply need to head to the blue marker south of Sumeru City. You can’t miss it since it’ll automatically pop up on your map. In fact, the moment you get too close, a short cutscene will trigger. This is actually what happened to me while I was heading to Port Ormos to continue the Archon Quest, and I was surprised that I got sidetracked for hours.
Anyway, you’ll meet Rana at this location. She’s a Forest Watcher who’s being attacked by mushrooms. Save her and she’ll take you to Vimara Village. Along the way, you’ll have to clear a Withering Zone as well.
In Vimara Village, you’ll talk to various NPCs and three kids. You’ll regale them with stories of your adventures before Rana asks you to help her patrol the vicinity. Here’s the gist:
- You’ll clear a couple more Withering Zones.
- You’ll battle several crocodiles.
- Rana will ask you to pick up some firewood (i.e., glowing markers on the ground).
The next day, you’ll spot Iotham, one of the kids from the village. Follow the trail and take out the mercenaries and Fatui. Inside the cavern, you’ll see Iotham trapped in a green orb. Destroy the Withering Zone tumor to free him.
Note: There’s a Remarkable Chest at the end of the tunnel. It’ll spawn once you beat the Ruin Sentinels.
As the group is heading out, Rana will remark that she’s not feeling well. Teleport back to Vimara Village and talk to the NPC. When you return to the cave, Rana is nowhere to be found. Follow the trail of green wisps (you can grapple to speed up traversal) until you reach the last marked location.
There, an Aranara named Arana reveals itself. It’s one of the forest creatures with a connection to the ancient tree, Irminsul, as well as the Dendro Archon. These are the same creatures you saw while you were helping out Haypasia.
The Aranara tells you that Rana is resisting the curse from an entity named Marana, and you need something called the “Bija” to free her. That’s found in a secret village known as Vanarana. We’ll head over there in the next part of our Genshin Impact Aranyaka quest guide.
